You may not have heard this in a week… Sales is all about relationships. We spent last month talking about the relationships to avoid. This month, our focus is on gratitude. And building the RIGHT relationships. And one relationship you need to have is with The Encourager.
How Do you Build the Right Relationships?
We have boiled this down to something as simple as ABC.
- A – Attitude of gratitude. Show how grateful you are for the positive relationships in your sales life.
- B – Begin with authenticity and accuracy. Be genuine in your interactions.
- C – Communicate your appreciation. When you are working with the right people, convey your happiness and how important their input is to you.
Who is The Encourager?
The Encourager is not the shy type. Typically, this person will actively seek out ways to encourage people. They identify what you’re doing right, not pointing out what you have done (or do) wrong. They naturally notice your strengths and find ways to help you draw them out.
Recognizing The Encourager
The Encourager is easy to spot. Positivity surrounds them. And they actively build relationships on this positivity. Your interactions with them are honest and focused on the good things that are being done. They help push forward your productivity by helping you develop your strengths.
How Do We Build Relationships with Encouragers?
Show them the Gratitude! A little bit of thankfulness goes a long way with an encourager. They naturally are focused on developing the good in others. But they are equally pleased to be appreciated for what they do. Encourage them back! And be specific. Pick out a particular situation they helped you with, or a specific strength they helped you develop.
Watch the video and see an encourager in action! And if this is missing in your life – reach out to Steve. He’s made it his life’s work to help people find their positivity. To help them build their strengths. To help them on the road to sustainable sales success!
