Management Tricks Take 3: Manage Up or Manage Out ~ Span the Chasm Monday Morning Pearls - Video Sales Training Message Discipline

Management Tricks Take 3: Manage Up or Manage Out

No one today expects to work for a company for more than 2-4 years. Sure, there are exceptions to this. However, many do follow the route of learning a role, getting comfortable, and then moving on to the next opportunity. As a sales leader, this requires you to get familiar with this week’s management trick. So without further adieu, we present Management Tricks Take 3: Manage up or Manage Out.

Manage up or Manage Out

Last week, we discussed the importance of sharing your knowledge. If you know how to do something, someone on your team (or everyone) needs to learn it. And that trick can set the stage for this week’s management trick. As you go through the paces of teaching new skills to your team, you’ll easily see it happening. Some will qualify themselves as candidates to manage up. And the others will demonstrate that their talents need to be taken elsewhere.

Watch the video. And Steve challenges you this week to use the management tricks from the last few weeks (Management Tricks Take 1 and Management Tricks Take 2) and see where your team is in the cycle. Are they ready to learn and to move forward within your organization? Or is it time for you to part ways and manage them out to an opportunity that may be a better fit for them? Only one way to find out!
