Complacency Equals Complicity ~ Span the Chasm Monday Morning Pearls - Video Sales Training Message Discipline

Complacency Equals Complicity

The importance of not becoming complacent when working with others is a crucial topic that needs to be discussed. Complacency equals complicity. This means that if you do not speak up about unacceptable behavior in your work environment, you are essentially condoning it. This holds especially true for salespeople who have bosses that are toxic, inefficient, or unwilling to hold people accountable. This culture creates an uneven work environment. If you become complacent in this situation, you are complicit in the behavior and essentially endorsing it.

What to Do When Complacency Equals Complicity…

While some situations may not allow for immediate action, it is crucial to eventually address the issue head-on. Allowing complacency to persist gives negative forces the opportunity to seep in and change the culture of the organization. Therefore, it is vital to combat complacency by never giving up on what you think is possible for you and your organization, finding allies, and bringing unrelenting enthusiasm to your work.

By consistently bringing positive energy into your meetings and relationships, you can start creating a contagion of positivity that can overpower the negative forces in the workplace. This can be difficult, but finding allies and being persistent can make a huge difference.

It’s essential to identify where you may be becoming complacent and take charge to infuse positive change back into the organization. Seeking guidance and support can also be beneficial in becoming a champion for your organization.
